Helen grew up in Derbyshire with a passion for art and crafts from a young age. From a creative family where there was always a project happening, from gardening, sewing, woodwork, baking, all very hands on and Helen was always encouraged to participate. A Christmas gift of an oil painting by numbers kit was a turning point that opened up new, exciting possibilities. At school, art was always Helen's favourite subject with a very keen interest in creative textiles.
Helen studied at Derby University gaining a degree in Graphic Design. She also studied 3d design and trained to be a visual merchandiser. She went on to take a teaching certificate to enable her to teach further education classes. She went on to work as an art workshop manager, an art product demonstrator, and has taught many art and craft classes. She continues to teach art classes and enjoys sharing her artistic knowledge.
Helen lives in the beautiful Welsh countryside outside Abergavenny where she works from her home studio, inspired by the beauty of the Welsh mountains and surrounding wildlife. She enjoys exploring the beautiful Welsh countryside where she can usually be found hanging over a flower with her camera, waiting for that right moment to capture a close up of a bee enjoying a flower, or sketching the many varieties of flowers and plants in her nature journal. Helen has recently produced a range of cushions of her Bee Collection designs which are available to buy in her online shop.
Helen has completed a wide variety of paintings including many murals, commemorative pieces and silk paintings. “It is always a privilege to be chosen to create someone’s idea, passion or memory.”
