"Take notice of the little things, appreciate the world around you"
I have completed a variety of paintings including many murals and commemorative pieces.
Share a glimpse into my world where you can slow down, take notice of the little things, appreciate the world around you and changing seasons. My intention is to transport you to a little corner of a garden where the birds are singing, bees are buzzing, and the scent of roses, blossom and lavender fill the air. Switch off the chaos of life for a while and breathe. I want my art to connect people with nature and appreciate the beauty of the natural world.
As an artist and a painter, it really never occurs to me to be doing anything else. My life's journey has been a personal and spiritually expanding experience and art is my way to stay centred and mindful … creating beauty and stillness within my uplifting compositions. This poem by William Henry Davies sums up what my art is about.
What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?
No time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep and cows:
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night:
No time to turn at beauty’s glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance:
No time to wait till her mouth can,
Enrich that smile her eyes began?
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
My inspiration comes from many places including countryside walks, wildflowers, visiting National Trust gardens and National Garden scheme events, garden centres and cottage gardens. I can usually be found hanging over a flower with my camera waiting for that right moment to capture a close up of a bee enjoying a flower – a valuable reference for my work. Based in the beautiful Welsh countryside outside Abergavenny, I work from my home studio immersed in nature.
I run regular art classes, passing on my knowledge to students -allowing them to expand their creativity, build confidence and produce work they are proud of.
